Gordon’s Bay : Beautification Project
An art competition launched by Ward 100 Councillor, Sean Stacey, invited all local school children to express their creativity.
The 12 chosen artworks will be transformed into murals on at least five prominent locations throughout Gordon’s Bay.
Professional artists will assist the children whose artworks were chosen to translate them into large-scale murals.
The aim is to express the special character of our town, as well as to attract visitors and to encourage tourism. We are extremely proud that 6 of our learners’ artworks were chosen that will form part of the selected 12 artworks to be translated into murals.
Congratulations, girls!
One of our Grade 6 learners, Priyanka Engelbrecht, when interviewed said: “I was inspired by the harbour. I think it is an iconic landmark and everyone who visits our town must visit the harbour. I am so happy to be a winner and can’t wait to see it painted on the wall”. Our four winners are: Lila Koorts, Tatiana Fourie, Priyanka Engelbrecht, Sandy Ngcamu , Carlee Du Plessis and Nina van Rensburg. Well done to our budding artists!
